Class is More Than What We Obtain in Temporal Objects

The week we have been talking about social class and the effect that is can have on a family... it was a real eye opener. I have always thought that no matter what "social class" you were in, you had problems. The rich tend to have to live up to a certain standard, the poor struggle with bills, both can loose loved ones over pathetic selfishness... blah blah blah the list goes on. Having money does not make all the problems of life go away. This thinking was reinforced as we studied the topic. It is odd how we as a people group others into different classes.

Everything including but not limited to skin color, jobs, size of home, neighborhood, religion, income, attitude, family style, personal choices, and friends puts us in a specific group(s). But its odd though because each person looking at you, based on their personal experiences and opinions, might place you in a different group of people or social class. In one circle, I might be quite the queen and in the next looked upon as nothing; all based on what they perceive in me or for whatever reason, know about me.

And then there is the class that we put ourselves in. How do we classify ourselves? Do we look in the mirror and see a sad person with an over sized chin, and to small nose that doesn't have much and cant seem to get a start in anything? Or do we see a beautiful son/daughter of God with great potential who can go far in life? And you know that though you might have meager means, you get by and have enough to see the beauty that is all around you?

I think that what is important is not how the world see us, but how we see ourselves. How we class ourselves.

Why worry about popularity or fashion, or another kind of classification that others might put us in when that class will change with each group of people you are with and it will never be the same as the world is not a constant place. Know who you are, and be the best you that you can be. Know that you are a child of God and treat yourself that way, and others will follow. If nothing else, they will know that you have something special. Seeing ourselves with an eternal perspective lets us see others that way to and we are able to look past temporal boundaries that might separate us from others groups. We can see others as they really are and we can know that they are more than the objects they may or may not posses in this life.

God doesn't look at money, income or our things. He looks at the heart and that is where our focus should be.

Your a child of God. Don't forget it and live up to it!
